John Kasich Backs Impeachment Of Donald Trump After Mulvaney Admission With ‘Great Sadness’

The former Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump. He did not, however, believe that Trump should be impeached — until yesterday. He had argued vociferously with Democrats against impeaching Trump, but when he heard the White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney acknowledge a quid pro quo on withholding military aid to Ukraine in exchange for an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden‘s son, Hunter Biden, he changed his tune.

“Look, I fought with people on air over, ‘Is there a quid pro quo’ and ‘Does this rise to the level of impeachment.’ I now believe that it does,” Kasich told CNN. “And I say it with great sadness. This is not something I really wanted to do.”

Yesterday, Mulvaney tried to walk back his admission that the White House had engaged in quid pro quo on Ukraine.
