NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 08: MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski present an award onstage during the Daily Front Row's Fashion Media Awards at Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown on September 8, 2017 in New York City.
In a heated statement on MSNBC, host Joe Scarborough said that if President Donald Trump and his allies who incited Wednesday’s riots at the U.S. Capitol are not arrested, “we are no longer a nation of laws.”
Scarborough pointed out the glaringly weak response from Capitol police during Wednesday’s riots saying, “If these insurrectionists were black, they would have been shot in the face. And my god, if these insurrectionists were Muslim they would have been sniped from the top of buildings.”
Scarborough continued, “Is it just white people? Or is it Donald Trump supporters?” He then turned attention to Trump allies Rudy Giuliani, who called for “trial by combat” before rioters breached the Capitol building, and Donald Trump Jr., who told Republicans who didn’t support the president “we are coming for you.”
Scarborough’s remarks came at the same time as several resignations from the Trump cabinet and calls from the Democratic House and Senate leaders as well as 17 members of the House Judiciary Committee for Vice President Mike Pence to enact the 25th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which would remove Trump from office.
