The phone number to report Iowa caucus results was jammed Tuesday, due to an inundation of prank calls from supporters of President Donald Trump. Some caucus managers were placed on hold for multiple hours, furthering delaying the reporting process.
The phone number was posted on a fringe internet message board on Monday night, prompting Trump supporters to clog the line with anti-Democrat messages.
Two participants on a conference call with Democratic party leaders told Bloomberg that Ken Sagar, a state Democratic central committee member, said people called the hotline and expressed support for Trump.

The Iowa Democratic Party confirmed Thursday that it “experienced an unusually high volume of inbound phone calls to its caucus hotline,” which included “supporters of President Trump who called to express their displeasure with the Democratic Party.”
In its statement, the party said the calls did not impact the caucus results nor their accuracy.
“The unexplained, and at times hostile, calls contributed to the delay in the Iowa Democratic Party’s collection of results, but in no way affected the integrity of information gathered or the accuracy of data sets reported,“ the party statement said.
