Impeachment Vote Of President Trump Fails In House Of Representatives 364-58

House Democrat Rep. Al Green (D-Tex.) tried to force a vote on Wednesday to impeach President Donald Trump. Although Green tried once before, he gave up under pressure from Democratic leaders.

The House did not vote directly on the subject of the resolution for impeachment but whether to table the proposal. The vote to table passed by a vote of 364-58. The process of impeachment did not end up being supported by the Democratic leaders or a majority of Democrats.

Green wrote a letter on Tuesday explaining his view on the matter. “I love my country. For this reason, I will bring articles of impeachment to a vote in the House of Representatives,” he wrote.

Only a few Democrats have publicly supported the move to have President Trump impeached and removed from office. Democratic leaders have said this process is premature. Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic leader, has said that the impeachment of Trump is something she does not support.

After the vote on Wednesday, Pelosi was quoted saying in a speech that the impeachment of Trump would be a waste of time and energy on the grounds that “he’s just not that important.” Pelosi was quoted by Emma Barker, editor at Cosmopolitan, saying, “Republicans would love for us to make our campaigns about the impeachment of Trump. That’s not what it’s about. It’s about the well-being of American families. He’s just not that important. Impeachment would further divide us, not bring us together.”

In a speech on the House floor, Green promised to the bring impeachment up for another vote in the future.
