House Freedom Caucus Asks McCarthy To File Motion To Remove Pelosi As Speaker

The House Freedom Caucus has asked House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to file a motion to remove Nancy Pelosi (D-California) as Speaker of the House.

Refusing to seat Rep Jim Jordan & Rep Jim Banks on the Select Committee to Investigate Jan 6th is intolerable.

House Freedom Caucus is calling on GOP leader to file and bring up a privileged motion to vacate the chair and end Speaker Pelosi’s authoritarian reign.

In a letter, the Caucus asked for McCarthy to summit the motion at the GOP conference July 31 “to vacate the chair and end Nancy Pelosi’s authoritarian reign as Speaker of the House.”

This news comes after Pelosi vetoed two of McCarthy’s Republican picks for the January 6 committee. The picks included Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) who is a member of the House Freedom Caucus. In response, McCarthy pulled all Republican representation from the committee, except for Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming), who was picked by Pelosi.

The House is currently controlled by a slim majority of Democrats, and so a motion is guaranteed to fail. Still, this letter signals growing GOP distrust of Pelosi. No public comment has been made by Pelosi or her team.
