House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-California) rebuked House Republicans on Monday for not cooperating with the Trump impeachment investigation after they failed in an attempt to censure him.
Freedom Caucus Chairman Rep. Andy Bigg (R-Arizona) proposed the resolution accusing Schiff of “fabricating” elements from the Trump-Ukraine July 25 telephone call. Schiff gave a paraphrasing of the call but said it was dramatization before he spoke.
Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California), Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) and conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) also sponsored the bill. After the vote took place, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued a statement which commended Schiff’s impeachment efforts and deemed him “a great American patriot.”

The statement reads, “What the Republicans fear most is the truth. The President betrayed the oath of office, our national security and the integrity of our elections, and the GOP has not even tried to deny the facts. The House will proceed with our impeachment inquiry to find the facts and expose the truth, guided by our Constitution and the facts. This is about patriotism, not politics or partisanship.”
