Fox News’ Tucker Carlson is being talked up as a potential GOP candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

Carlson, the popular Fox News host of his own show Tucker Carlson Tonight, is supported by many as a frontrunner in a Republican primary amid the uncertain reelection prospects of President Donald Trump.

“He’s a talented communicator with a massive platform. I think if he runs he’d be formidable,” said Luke Thompson, a Republican strategist that worked for Jeb Bush in 2016 election.

Republicans are eyeing Carlson largely because of the increasing odds that former vice president Joe Biden will be elected president.

“Let me put it this way: If Biden wins and Tucker decided to run, he’d be the nominee,” said Sam Nunberg, Trump’s former political adviser.

Carlson recently said during his show that Trump might lose his reelection amid the protests and coronavirus outbreak.

“Not many people are saying it out loud on the right, but the fact is President Trump could well lose this election,” Carlson said. “In fact, unless fundamental facts change soon, it could be tough for him to be re-elected.”

Carlson also showed his loyalty to Trump by defending the president.

“Why did this happen? Well there are many reasons. Trump was exhausted for one thing after three years of defending himself against Russiagate: the most elaborate and effective hoax in American history.”

Tucker Carlson Tonight, based on the second-quarter ratings released last week, is the most-watched cable news program in American history.
