Giuliani Jokes He Has ‘Very, Very Good Insurance’ If Trump Turns On Him

The former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani has a dark sense of humor. When asked by The Guardian if he feared that President Donald Trump would ever throw him under the bus, he said he  has “very, very good insurance.”

Giuliani said, “I’m not, but I do have very, very good insurance, so if he does, all my hospital bills will be paid.” Giuliani’s lawyer Robert Costello chimed in to reassure the reporter that the former New York City mayor was joking.

There has been speculation in the press that Trump might scapegoat Giuliani in his impeachment case.

Giuliani acted as Trump’s personal lawyer in the presidential impeachment inquiry. The former mayor is also a pivotal figure in the Ukraine scandal that has roiled the Trump presidency. Giuliani’s business associates Igor Fruman and Lev Parnas were arrested last month when they were trying to leave the country. Giuliani is under investigation for potential campaign finance violations.

In the closed-door testimonies of multiple witnesses during the impeachment inquiry, Giuliani has emerged as the key figure in the conversations and actions surrounding the Ukraine scandal. An anonymous Republican source told Axios, “Rudy will be cut loose as he was rogue.”

Giuliani, however, told The Guardian that Trump is a “very loyal guy.”

“I did what a good lawyer is supposed to do. I dug up evidence that helped to show the case against him was false… And then I stepped on the number one minefield, which is Joe Biden, who is heavily protected by the Washington press corps,” Giuliani said.
