George Conway Slams Rudy Giuliani For Claiming Campaign Finance Violations Are Not A “Big Crime”

Noted critic of President Donald Trump, George Conway took aim at Rudy Giuliani on Friday for claiming that the alleged campaign finance violations facing the president were not a “big crime.”

Giuliani, who has become the leading face of Trump’s legal team, told the Daily Beast Friday, “Nobody got killed, nobody got robbed. … This was not a big crime.”

“I think in two weeks they’ll start with parking tickets that haven’t been paid,” he added, referencing the payments authorized by then-candidate Trump to two women he had allegedly had affairs with.

Taking to Twitter later that same day, Conway posted a parodied version of the presidential oath that included Giuliani’s remarks, writing, “‘I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, except where nobody gets killed or robbed.’”

Michael Cohen, the president’s former lawyer, was sentenced to three years in prison in connection to charges of fraud, lying to Congress and campaign finance violations.

His sentencing sends an ominous message to the White House, since Cohen’s testimony has been critical to special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

Conway has made a name for himself by attacking the president and his policies. A large portion of his fame, or infamy in certain circles, is tied to the fact that he is married to one of President Trump’s chief advisers, Kellyanne Conway.
