Fox News Host Tucker Carlson Calls Rep. Adam Schiff ‘Demonstrably Mentally Ill’

Fox News host Tucker Carlson called Rep. Adam Schiff (D-California) “clearly, demonstrably mentally ill” due to his account of the July 25 phone call exchange between President Donald Trump and the president of Ukraine.

“He recently went into a kind of trance and delivered his own prophetic version of what he believed must have happened between President Trump and the president of Ukraine,” Carlson said Thursday night on Tucker Carlson Tonight.

He added: “Keep in mind, that isn’t some guy babbling in the men’s room at Starbucks. That is the man who chairs the mighty House Intelligence Committee. We trust him with the most sensitive information, and yet he is clearly, demonstrably mentally ill.”

Trump also responded to Schiff’s spiel via tweet, claiming that Schiff’s version of events never happened.

“Rep. Adam Schiff fraudulently read to Congress, with millions of people watching, a version of my conversation with the President of Ukraine that doesn’t exist,” he tweeted Friday morning. “He was supposedly reading the exact transcribed version of the call, but he completely changed the words to make it sound horrible, and me sound guilty.”

He then called for Schiff’s resignation.

“HE WAS DESPERATE AND HE GOT CAUGHT,” Trump wrote. “Adam Schiff therefore lied to Congress and attempted to defraud the American Public. He has been doing this for two years. I am calling for him to immediately resign from Congress based on this fraud!”

Carlson, who thinks it is “hard to see” how Trump’s actions are impeachable, has caused a few controversies in recent months. Earlier this week, Carlson feuded with fellow Fox host Shephard Smith and Judge Andrew Napolitano, after one of his guests called Napolitano a “fool,” and Carlson did not defend the judge. He also caused a public outcry for saying white supremacy is “a hoax.”
