Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott Orders Producers To Rein In Hosts & Commentators

Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott gathered the network’s producers recently for a unusual meeting, imploring them to have better control over the hosts and guests.

According to reports, Scott told them that they would be culpable for any damaging remark said by hosts or guests on the network’s shows: “You are responsible for protecting the talent, protecting the brand,” she said.

Scott reportedly particularly focused on Fox News’ coverage of the immigration crisis at the border, going so far as to say that all material on immigrant children should be scripted and reviewed beforehand.

SLIDESHOW: DONALD TRUMP’S 30 CRAZIEST TWEETS

The network has been marred by controversy in recent weeks, thanks to a series of comments made on air. Former Donald Trump campaign executive Corey Lewandowski dismissed on air an account of a young girl with Down Syndrome being separated from her mother as part of the nation’s recent crackdown on migrants crossing the U.S. border illegally. “Womp, womp,” said Lewandowski coldly.

Other comments were made by host Laura Ingraham comparing children’s immigrant detention facilities to “summer camps” and guest Ann Coulter calling the immigrant children “child actors.”

In a separate incident, David Bossie, another former Trump campaign staffer and Fox News contributor, on Sunday told an African-American Democratic strategist Joel Payne that he was out of his “cotton-picking mind,” to suggest that there were racist “dog whistles” coming out of the White House. Ed Henry, the anchor at the time, pushed back on the comments, Bossie is said to have been suspended from appearing on the network for two weeks. “David Bossie’s comments today were deeply offensive and wholly inappropriate. His remarks do not reflect the sentiments of Fox News and we do not in any way condone them,” and Fox said in a statement.
