Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s former foreign policy advisor, Roland Paris, slammed President Donald Trump for his inflammatory comments about Trudeau after the Group of Seven (G-7) Summit.
Paris took to Twitter to air his grievances, calling Trump a “pathetic little man-child” in his tweet. This was in response to Trump’s own tweets calling Trudeau “dishonest and weak” and proclaiming that the United States will not be signing the G-7 communique due to Trudeau’s “false statements” and tariffs imposed on the United States. Trump promised to be looking into tariffs on foreign automobiles in turn.

Trudeau said earlier that all G-7 members had agreed to sign the communique at the Quebec summit. The prime minister’s office has stood by Trudeau, releasing a statement saying he has been honest with Trump throughout the summit.
“The Prime Minister said nothing he hasn’t said before – both in public, and in private conversations with the President,” the statement read.
Canadian Foreign Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland also did not appreciate Trump’s comments, saying they were not “appropriate or useful.”
“Canada does not believe that ad hominem attacks are a particularly appropriate or useful way to conduct our relations with other countries,” Freeland told reporters at a press conference Sunday.
