Former CNN Star Chris Cuomo Loses Book Deal, Cancels Radio Show

A book authored by former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, whom network President Jeff Zucker fired last week after CNN received allegations of sexual misconduct against the Cuomo Prime Time host, was dropped by its publisher on Tuesday.

“I can confirm that we don’t intend to publish the book,” HarperCollins spokesperson Kelly Rudolph said in a statement to which an industry insider added, “this is why contracts have a morals clause. He lost his platform and his credibility.”

The book, Deep Denial, was anticipated to be “a provocative analysis of the harsh truths that the pandemic and [former President Donald] Trump years have exposed about America — about our strength and our character — and a roadmap of the work needed to make our ideals match reality.”

On Monday, Cuomo agreed to cancel his SiriusXM satellite radio show, Let’s Get After It after the company asked him to step down.

“The way my time ended at CNN was hard. While I have a thick skin, I also have a family, for whom the past week has been extraordinarily difficult. So, right now, I have to take a step back and focus on what comes next. That means I will no longer be doing my SiriusXM radio show,” Cuomo said in a statement that was posted to Twitter. “I am extremely grateful for the support I have received from SiriusXM throughout my time there. I also want to express my sincere appreciation for my loyal listeners. I will miss our conversations a great deal – but I look forward to being back in touch with you all in the future.”

SiriusXM said that “following Chris Cuomo’s statement that he is leaving his SiriusXM show, Let’s Get After It will no longer air. We thank Chris for his work at SiriusXM.”

Cuomo’s termination followed an indefinite suspension that was imposed following the disclosure of documents by New York State Attorney General Letitia James that Cuomo had used his position at CNN to aid in the defense of his brother, ex-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), who resigned last August amid accusations of sexual assault.
