On Friday, the FBI searched the Indiana home of former Vice President Mike Pence and found classified documents.

After speaking with Justice Department representatives, aides to the former vice president approved the search.

In response to the discovery of classified documents by President Joe Biden‘s aides, which were found both at his Wilmington, Delaware home and his old office at a Washington D.C. think tank, Pence’s aides searched his home out of an abundance of caution.

They too discovered documents with classified markings and contacted the Justice Department.

The FBI’s search comes a day after reports came out indicating that Pence had received a subpoena from the January 6 Special Counsel, who is investigating former President Donald Trump‘s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

It is not clear at this time what information the Special Counsel is looking for specifically from Pence; however, the former vice president had been one of Trump’s most loyal allies before the 2020 election and could have been well positioned to gather a more general understanding of the former president’s plans.

The subpoena of Pence is one of Smith’s most aggressive moves yet during the January 6 investigations, given the vice president’s once-close political relationship with Trump.

Their relationship fell apart when Pence challenged Trump’s schemes to stop the ceremonial counting of the electoral votes in Congress.

Pence, seeing no legal route to fulfill Trump’s demands, refused to follow through and forever severed their relationship.

Supporters of Trump’s schemes on January 6, 2021 chanted “hang Mike Pence.”

According to the January 6 hearings, Trump approved of the chant.
