Eric Trump
In January 2017, President Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, took a vacation to Uruguay. The U.S. Secret Service personnel accompanied him on his holiday, as allowed by law. They stayed at a hotel in Punta del Este, where he resided during the short trip. Some staff from the U.S.Embassy to Uruguay in Montevideo also booked themselves in the exact hotel where the president’s son was enjoying himself at a huge costs to the U.S. taxpayer. Eric Trump met with real estate brokers, dined at a pricey beachfront eatery and spoke at an elite party during his stay in Punta del Este.
The taxpayer had to foot the bill of nearly $100,000 for Trump’s son, embassy staff and secret service people. It is perfectly legal though for the taxpayer to take up the cost burden of the president and his family’s security.
The hotel in Punta del Este is a grand, Trump-branded property. The condominiums are luxurious. They come in several sizes and are in plenty of prices, ranging from $550,000 to $8 million. The opulent hotel has waterfall pools, massage room and a private theater. This is a money-maker for the Trump Organization. It has been paid from $100,000 to $1 million for the licensed hotel in Punta del Este.
Trump has refused to give up ownership of the Trump Organization after becoming president. His two sons, Eric and Donald Jr. manage the running of the Trump Organization while also attending events in the White House presenting many conflict of interest concerns.
