Dr. Anthony Fauci Says COVID-19 Turned Out To Be His ‘Worst Nightmare’

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s top infectious disease specialist, said Tuesday the coronavirus pandemic is his “worst nightmare” and warned that the pandemic is not over yet.

Fauci attended the BIO Digital virtual health-care conference that was livestreamed Tuesday when he talked about the ongoing pandemic.

“Now we have something that turned out to be my worst nightmare,” Fauci said. “In the period of four months, it has devastated the world.”

“Like oh, my goodness, when is it going to end?” he said. “It really is very complicated. So we’re just at almost the beginning of really understanding.”

The infection, Fauci said, won’t just naturally disappear.

“We’re going to need a vaccine for the entire world, billions and billions of doses,” Fauci said. “So, I’m almost certain that we’re going to have multiple candidates that make it to the goal line get approved and get widely used.”

The World Health Organization announced that, as of now, more or less 130 vaccines are in the trial stage against the novel virus.
