Donald Trump
President Donald Trump has had a turbulent relationship with the free press, often contesting it’s biased against him. On Wednesday morning, Trump tweeted out how the “Fake News is working overtime” and suggested he may take away press credentials.
Trump’s tweet is yet another in a long line of tweets where he expresses his dislike for the media. Taking a defensive tone, he argues the country has had “tremendous success,” yet there’s overwhelming negativity regarding how he is reported. Trump wonders why he bothers to work with the media and somewhat ominously closed his message by saying, “Take away credential?”T
The tweet was published shortly after a Fox & Friends segment finished airing. The program discussed the findings of the conservative-leaning Media Research Center, which found that about 90 percent of evening news coverage of Trump focused on negative aspects of his presidency, such as his scandals or the Russia investigation.

Trump’s threat to revoke press credentials contradicts a previous statement he made to them in a 2015 interview with Time . The magazine asked Trump, “Could you assure that even news outlets that you feel are being very unfair to you will continue to have their credentials at the White House if you’re elected President?” Trump’s response: “Oh yeah, I would do that. It doesn’t mean I’d be nice to them. I tend to do what I do. If people aren’t treating me right, I don’t treat them right.”
