First son Donald Trump Jr. received a permit to hunt a grizzly bear in Western Alaska, according to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
The Gov. Mike Dunleavy (R-Alaska) is granted a limited amount of “dignitary” licenses and game tags that he can issue. According to Rick Green, a Fish and Game spokesperson, Trump Jr. did not receive one.
Instead, he applied for one of 27 licenses designated for out-of-state hunters. Only two other hunters applied. As an out-of-state hunter, he must be accompanied by a licensed Alaskan guide. The permit allows him to begin hunting on August 1 and lasts through May 31 of next year.
In the area of his hunt, non-resident hunters harvested 11 bears in 2019. Resident hunters killed more than 40.
