Carroll drew attention when she talked about a section of her upcoming book, What Do We Need Men For? that described the president’s assault on her. Speaking with CNN on Monday, Carroll said that Trump threw her up against a wall so hard that “I hit my head really hard: boom.” She asserted that he had tried to fight back against the New York tycoon’s advances, saying, “I want women to know that I did not stand there. I did not freeze. I was not paralyzed, which is a reaction I could have had because it was so shocking. No, I fought.”

The excerpt from Carroll’s book describes how Trump had asked her to model some lingerie that he was considering purchasing for his then-wife, Marla Maples. “The minute he closed that door, I was banged up against the wall,” Carroll said in an appearance on CNN.

The president has adamantly denied the assault, accusing Carroll, who writes for Elle magazine, of making up the story to gain publicity for her new book. When asked about the incident during an interview with The Hill, Trump responded, “I’ll say it with great respect. No. 1, she’s not my type. No. 2, it never happened. It never happened, ok?” He also claimed that he had never met Carroll, even though there was a photo of the two together at a party in 1987. Carroll is just the most recent in a string of women who have claimed that the president sexually assaulted or harassed them at some point. Trump has denied all allegations, even after footage came out from 2005 in which he bragged about grabbing women “by the pussy.”
