Donald Trump Says He “Meant” For Audience To Laugh At His U.N. Speech [VIDEO]

Before Donald Trump took the oath of office, he frequently claimed other countries were laughing at the United States, as a consequence of the poor leadership he perceived it to have. However, on Sept. 25, Trump gave a speech to the United Nations, and various world leaders laughed during it.

Trump has boasted about the numerous accomplishments his administration has accrued thus far to his base, always getting met with applause and cheers. Nevertheless, claiming his administration is among the upper echelon of Presidential administrations is certainly a bold one, and it was met with a very different reaction to his foreign counterparts yesterday.

“In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country,” Trump bragged. Upon finishing that sentence, however, laugher could be heard coming from the General Assembly.

“America’s – so true,” Trump uttered, taken aback by this unforeseeable development. “I didn’t expect that reaction, but that’s okay,” was Trump’s response, which in and of itself inspired more laughter and even some applause. Given Trump’s smile, it’s possible he couldn’t quite parse why his colleagues were laughing in the moment.

While Trump handled himself well enough on the spot, seeing a United States President get laughed at during a United Nations speech will nevertheless become an unforgettable moment in his legacy. Later in the day when asked about the laughs, Trump claimed “that was meant to get some laughter!”
