The Roseanne revival shows the Illinois working-class Conner family’s life more than 20 years after the show ended (in 1997). Laurie Metcalf returns as Roseanne’s sister Jackie, a liberal woman who is at odds with Roseanne over the president. Jackie, supposedly a Hillary Clinton supporter, is seen wearing a “nasty woman” t-shirt. John Goodman has also reprised his role as Roseanne’s husband Dan Conner.

“They said hold please for the president of the United States of America and that’s about the most exciting thing ever and it was just very sweet of him to congratulate us,” said Barr.

Barr said details of her and Trump’s conversation were “private,” although she said the two discussed working in television and ratings, something the president has long been obsessed with.

“He really understand ratings and how they measure things and that’s been  an interest of mine too for along time,” Barr added.

Though Trump’s exact comments about his talk with Roseanne are unknown, Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter to congratulate her, while also slamming late-night comedians for being too liberal and criticizing the current administration too much.

The show garnered an impressive 5.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 18.2 million viewers for the hour-long, two-part episode, higher than the ratings the series finale received in 1997. According to ABC,  it marked the most-viewed comedy broadcast on any network in almost four years, since a season premiere of The Big Bang Theory in 2014. Entertainment Weekly reported this fact.

Barr faced criticism in recent weeks after expressing support for the “#MeToo” movement. Celebrities and fans called the actress a hypocrite for voicing support for sexual harassment victims while also holding favorable views on Trump, an accused sexual predator.
