Democratic presidential candidate Dean Phillips announced that he would lay off a significant portion of his campaign staff due to inadequate funds for his run for the presidency.

The Minnesota congressman has not been able to raise sufficient resources since announcing that he was running for office in October. His remaining campaign staff announced a cancelation of all upcoming travels. They plan to stay in Washington, D.C., as they continue with his presidential bid.

Phillips’ struggles to raise the needed funds to run a sustainable campaign started after he lost by 44 percentage points to President Joe Biden in New Hampshire, where Biden was a write-in candidate, and then by 94 percentage points in South Carolina.

Phillips has centered his bid for the presidency on the issue of Biden’s age. He frequently takes to X, noting that Biden lacks the capabilities to lead the country.
