On Tuesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made history after being the first foreign leader to address the British House of Commons directly.

Zelenskyy received a standing ovation after he gave a historic address about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the need for more aid. He spoke of the agony Ukraine is facing in the war, which has cost the country hundreds of lives lost and left cities in ruins.

“We will not surrender, we will not lose, we will go to the end. We will fight to the end at sea, in the air. We will continue fighting for our land, whatever the cost,” Zelenskyy said during his address to the House of Commons, quoting Britain’s wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

Since the invasion, the U.S. and Britain have banned the import of Russian oil to show their solidarity with Ukraine.
