Coronavirus Stimulus Funds Used To Support Barron Trump’s Elite Private School

President Donald Trump‘s son, Barron Trump, is attending the elite private school in Maryland, a school that is receiving stimulus aid that was supposed to be targeted for small businesses.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, Barron’s prep school, claimed that they applied for the funds as part of the regular process and has no plan to return them.

“[We] applied for PPP funds through our longstanding bank to ensure retention of our full faculty and staff, including hourly employees and coaches, during this very challenging and uncertain time,” the school said in a statement.

“We feel fortunate to have received funds that will allow us to maintain our promise to support our employees and to help school families facing hardship remain at St. Andrew’s next year. We hope every other nonprofit and small business is able to access PPP support.”

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin demanded the wealthy schools return funds received from PPP.

“It has come to our attention that some private schools with significant endowments have taken [PPP] loans,” Mnuchin wrote in his tweet. “They should return them.”

However, the cabinet member’s own children are also attending an elite school, the Brentwood School in Los Angeles, that is also receiving stimulus funds.

White House Spokesperson Judd Deere revealed that the President himself also doesn’t welcome the idea of these wealthy private schools to receive the aid.

“The president has made it clear that he does not believe private schools with significant endowments should be receiving PPP money and those that have should consider returning it,” Deere said.
