Conservative Commentator Stacey Dash Turns On Trump, Gets Dragged On Social Media

Actress Stacey Dash, known for starring in the 1995 teen rom-com Clueless, revealed in an interview with Daily Mail TV on Wednesday that she “made a lot of mistakes,” referencing her former support of former President Donald Trump during her tenure at Fox News.

Dash’s foray into politics has been a complicated, “angry” endeavor. Fox News hired the actress as a political commentator back in May 2014. While serving as a Fox News pundit, Dash claims she was branded as “the angry, conservative, black woman.”

The 54-year-old actress ran unsuccessfully for Congress in California in 2018.

“I’ve lived my life being angry, which is what I was on Fox News,” Dash said. “I was the angry, conservative, black woman and at that time in my life, it was who I was. I realized in 2016 that anger is unsustainable and it will destroy you. And, you know, what people don’t know is I made a lot of mistakes because of that anger.”

She added: “There are things that I am sorry for. Things that I did say, that I should not have said them the way I said them. They were very arrogant and prideful and angry. And that’s who Stacey was, but that’s not who Stacey is now. Stacey’s someone who has compassion, empathy.”

In 2017, Dash backed Trump’s stance on the 2017 Charlottesville rally. The former president claimed that there were “very fine people on both sides.” Dash has also supported Trump’s claims that Mexican immigrants were criminals and rapists.

However, Dash claimed that the Jan. 6. riots marked a turning point for her political opinions. “When that happened I was like, ok, I’m done. I’m truly done. Because senseless violence of any kind I denounce,” she said. “What happened on Jan. 6 was just appalling and stupid.”

“I’m not a victim of anyone,” she stated. “Working for Fox at the time, that was my job. I did my job from the place I was at. Stacey now would never work at Fox, would never work for a news network or be a news contributor.”
