State Rep. Dave Williams (R-Colorado) filed a lawsuit against Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold (D) to have the phrase “Let’s Go Brandon,” included with his name on the ballot to show his opposition to President Joe Biden. “Let’s Go Brandon” is widely understood to mean “F— Joe Biden” by people on the right.
Williams accused Griswold of not including his name with the phrase even though he submitted his name as Dave “Let’s Go Brandon” Williams. Griswold said she didn’t include the phrase because it was a slogan and not a nickname.
“Our office does not believe this is a good faith use of that statute and will cause confusion for voters,” Griswold said in a statement.

However, Williams isn’t the first candidate to add a nickname on the ballot. Blake Law, a candidate for the Thompson School District Board of Education, was listed on the ballot as Blake “No Mandates” Law which was allowed by Griswold in 2021.
