Bill De Blasio Says He Wants To ‘Tax The Hell Out Of The Wealthy’ During Detroit Democratic Debate
New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio (D) said he wants to “tax the hell out of the wealthy” during the second Democratic debate on Wednesday night.
De Blasio claimed it is crucial to advocate taxing the wealthy because it will get people in swing states such as Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan to vote Democratic. “It is something they can actually relate to,” he said.
The New York mayor said “the 1%” would be heavily taxed in his administration. “When we do that Donald Trump will call us socialists,” he continued, calling President Trump “the real socialist.”

De Blasio tweeted the statement to the president who unsurprisingly did not respond.
