CLEVELAND, OHIO - SEPTEMBER 29: U.S. President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden participate in the first presidential debate moderated by Fox News anchor Chris Wallace (C) at the Health Education Campus of Case Western Reserve University on September 29, 2020 in Cleveland, Ohio. This is the first of three planned debates between the two candidates in the lead up to the election on November 3.
American Muslims flocked to Twitter after Democratic nominee Joe Biden responded to President Donald Trump using an Arabic word during the first presidential debate on Tuesday night.
Moderator Chris Wallace had asked Trump for a statement regarding the recent New York Times report on his tax returns and whether or not the American public will ever have access to viewing them.
“I’ve paid millions of dollars,” Trump said, despite the Times reporting he paid only $750 in 2016 and 2017. “You’ll get to see it.”
“When?” Biden asked, adding “inshallah,” an Arabic word that means “God willing” and is intended to be used in a sarcastic manner. His campaign confirmed that this was the word Biden intended to use.
