Barack & Michelle Obama Use Netflix Movie ‘American Factory’ To Take Shots At Trump

Since leaving the office in 2016, President Barack and Michelle Obama have stuck to not speaking ill of the current president. They even avoided using President Donald Trump’s name in a Netflix movie produced by the Obamas’ production company. The Obamas have signed a deal with Netflix to release a number of shows and documentaries that portray their values.

The company’s first production American Factory portrays a factory that is shuttered by layoffs in 2008. It deals with the growing problem of U.S.-China relations, mader far worse by Trump.

The film shows how American workers worry about job uncertainty in the years leading up to the 2016 election. It begins in 2008 and ends about a year and a half into Trump’s presidency, where the workers job’s are just as uncertain and their wagers are not as high as they once were.

The movie shows the realities of blue-collar factory workers lives in America.

With Trump’s China trade war, U.S. production fell 0.4 percent in July. The president has claimed his tax cuts will act as an incentive for companies to open new factories in the U.S., but the reality is they are still closing across the country.

The film ends with one character saying “let’s make America good again,” clearly alluding to Trump’s “make America great again” slogan.
