Ann Coulter Insists Detained Migrant Children Are ‘Child Actors’

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter claimed last Sunday that the thousands of children who have been taken from their parents and being held in detention facilities are nothing more than “child actors.”

“They’re given scripts to read by liberals, according to The New Yorker. Don’t fall for the actor children,” Coulter said during an appearance on Fox News’ The Next Revolution with Steve Hilton. No such New Yorker article has been found.

“These child actors weeping and crying on all the other networks 24/7 right now; do not fall for it, Mr. President,” she said in a message directly to President Donald Trump while staring into the camera. “I get very nervous about the president getting his news from TV.”

Steve Hilton, the show’s host, later released a statement on Twitter separating himself from Coulter’s conspiracy theory

The separation of parents and children have come as a result of the Trump administration’s new hard-line “zero tolerance” policy. Under this policy, anyone caught illegally entering the country will be criminally prosecuted – meaning any accompanying children are taken away and held in detention facilities that former First Lady Laura Bush called “eerily reminiscent” of the World War II–era Japanese internment camps. More than 2,300 children have been taken from their parents so far, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
