On Saturday, several Muslim leaders from various swing states gathered in Dearborn, Michigan, to initiate a countrywide movement opposing the reelection of President Joe Biden due to their strong disagreement with his handling of the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Organizers from various states, including Michigan, Minnesota, Arizona, Wisconsin, Florida, Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania, are rallying together for a campaign tagged as #AbandonBiden. They are determined to ensure that Biden never returns to the White House after 2024. While these leaders have previously conducted individual efforts within their respective states, they now believe it is opportune to synchronize their actions in preparation for the upcoming 2024 election.

Hassan Abdel Salam, a professor at the University of Minnesota who is a member of this campaign, addressed a press conference.

“We’re looking into finding ways to build a mechanism of coordination between all the swing states so that we’re constantly working together to ensure that Muslim Americans will come out in all of these states, and that Mr. Biden will lose each and every one of them,” he said.

He added that Biden should see 111 electoral votes behind him. “And he won last time with 74.”

The growing anger among Arab and Muslim Americans poses a potential risk to Biden’s reelection prospects in several swing states in 2024, all of which have significant Arab American and Muslim-American voter groups.
