Andrew Giuliani, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani’s son, announced on Tuesday that he is running for governor of New York in 2022.
Giuliani, 35, has limited experience in politics. He had previously served as a special assistant to the former President Donald Trump while his father, Rudy Giuliani, served as Trump’s personal lawyer.
Giuliani has been hinting at a bid for governor for weeks until he made it official by launching a campaign website Tuesday.
“For New Yorkers, Andrew helped to preserve thousands of MTA jobs by facilitating CARES Act funding,” Giuliani’s website reads. “He also worked with the Treasury Department and Health and Human Services to ensure that the $3.9 million that had been inadvertently taken out of the 9/11 First Responders Fund over thirteen years and three administrations was completely refunded.”

Giuliani told The Washington Examiner last month that he has “the best chance to win [the governor’s race] and take the state back.”
In Giuliani’s campaign video, he continuously attacked Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) for his nursing home and sexual harassment scandals.
Cuomo has denied any wrongdoing in the two scandals and said that he will run for re-election next year. He is also facing investigations from both the New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) and the FBI.
