A Wisconsin district attorney has charged five former President Donald Trump voters with election fraud.

The Republican DA Eric Toney said that the voters improperly listed their home address as the address for a post office box number.

Toney said that charging the voters with election fraud was in no way connected to the 2020 election and Trump’s claims that the election was “rigged” or “stolen” from him when he was defeated by President Joe Biden. Instead, Toney said that the charges were meant to raise awareness around the law that requires a residential address to vote.

“It is clear that [the ballots] would have had no impact on any election results about who would have won the race,” Toney told ABC News. “It has nothing to do with that type of argument.”
