Former President Barack Obama is currently the most popular president in living memory, according to the latest poll by Pew Research Center. Among 2,002 adults, 44 percent rated Obama as the best or second best president of their lifetimes. While in office, Obama was listed in the top two by only 20 percent of respondents, similar to current President Donald Trump’s rating of 19 percent. Considering responses must be limited to those who held office during the respondent’s lifetime, the results do significantly differ along generational lines. A majority of millennials named Obama as one of their top two, while Reagan was more popular among older generations. Instead, Republicans favored Reagan who was rated in the top two by 57 percent of Republicans followed by President Trump with 40 percent of the party’s vote. The poll was conducted between June 5 and June 12 with a 2.6 percent error margin.
