Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden took narrow leads in the states of Pennsylvania and Georgia on Friday morning, three days after November 3.
Biden led by 5,500 votes against President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania despite Trump’s attempts to claim an early victory. Biden is also led by around 1,000 votes in Georgia, a state no Democrat has won since 1992.
Mail-in ballots are still in the process of being counted, but the mail-in votes counted thus far have favored the Democrat candidate.
Biden leads the popular vote in Georgia by a narrow margin and voters still have time to return overseas and military ballots. Additionally, there are opportunities to fix mistakes on absentee ballots while more mail-in ballots arrive from dominantly red counties.

If Biden successfully wins Pennsylvania, he will reach the threshold of 270 electoral votes needed to win the election. If Pennsylvania flips red by the end of their count, Biden can still receive votes through the remaining states that have not finished counting ballots. Meanwhile, Trump needs to win Pennsylvania in order to be re-elected.
