Self-hep author Marianne Williamson is convinced that President Donald Trump has committed impeachable offenses. However, she recognizes that deciding whether or not a sitting U.S. president should be removed from office is a difficult process and must be treated carefully.
In an exclusive interview with uPolitics, Williamson cited the White House’s zero-tolerance policy on illegal immigration — which has resulted in hundreds of migrant families being separated at the U.S.-Mexico border — as grounds for impeachment. (The Trump administration conceded last week that it separated 1,500 more immigrant families than it had previously admitted in court.) The author said she believes Trump’s treatment of immigrant children was more severe than any obstruction of justice he may have committed.
“To me, the very fact that his policies have intentionally kidnapped children and caused chronic trauma to these children in the detention centers, that is a high crime and misdemeanor,” said Williamson.

The self-help guru admitted that she nevertheless respects the House of Representatives’ due diligence in carrying out their impeachment inquiry. Williamson also added she believes impeachment in this case is a “tough call” because Trump could easily use any effort to forcefully remove him from office as ammunition to smear Democrats and thus ultimately have a higher chance of winning re-election.
“I do believe the president would use [impeachment] as a major political tool,” said Williamson. “If we start impeachment proceedings, ‘Poor Donald!’ will be the cry. ‘They’re victimizing the president!’ It’s a coup against the president!'”

“I put nothing past these people,” Williamson added of Trump supporters.
In the end, Williamson said she approves of lawmakers’ efforts to impeach Trump.
“I’m watchful and right now, I believe the process is unfolding as it should,” she said.
Williamson raised $3 million for her 2020 presidential campaign in the third quarter of this year, according to fortune.com.
