Donald Trump is in the top slot in the 2024 GOP polls.
Fifty-seven percent of polled Republican voters would support Trump. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis garnered the second most votes with 12 percent. Former Vice President Mike Pence was a close third at 11 percent.
Trump has not yet announced if he will run for his third presidential campaign, but if he doesn’t, DeSantis will be the front runner. In a scenario where Trump is not an option, DeSantis scores 30 percent support, while Pence’s support percentage is six points below DeSantis at 24 percent.
Most Republicans have said that they would not challenge Trump if he were to run, but DeSantis has not.

People close to Trump report that the former president has become frustrated with DeSantis as the governor has signaled a possible run for the Republican nomination. Trump has both considered making DeSantis his running mate and said he would beat him if they ran against each other in the Republican primary.
Trump denied reports of a soured relationship between the two in an interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News. He said he has “a very good relationship with Ron and intend to have it for a long time.”
According to the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard University and the Harris Poll, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris don’t have the widespread support among Democrats that Trump has with Republicans. It is likely that Biden will run for reelection, but in a hypothetical matchup, the poll indicates 32 percent support for Biden and 14 percent for Harris.
While Trump’s distance from the spotlight has seemed to help his numbers, Mark Penn, the co-director of the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll, warned that it’s too early to put stock into poll results.
“Early polls usually end up not being a good predictor of what happens,” Penn added.
