Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) is leading former President Donald Trump in the polls for the 2024 Republican presidential candidacy, according to Club for Growth.
The Iowa-based group surveyed 508 people. Forty-eight percent of them said they would vote for DeSantis in comparison to the 37% who said they plan on backing Trump. Sixteen percent of respondents said they still don’t know who they would vote for.

The poll indicates a spike in support for the Florida Republican, with an 11-point swing in favor of DeSantis.

A similar survey was conducted in New Hampshire. Out of the 401 people polled, 52% said they would support a DeSantis nomination. Thirty-seven percent voiced support for Trump. The two were tied in the same poll just under three months ago.
Polls in two other battleground states, Florida and Georgia, also indicate that DeSantis would beat Trump there.
Trump launched his campaign this week in a low-energy announcement at Mar-a-Lago. Trump will face legal and political battles as he is currently embroiled in multiple investigations for his role in inciting the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, possibly mishandling classified White House documents and allegedly playing a part in election fraud in Georgia.
DeSantis has not formally launched a campaign for the White House.
Trump and DeSantis were once publicly supportive of one another, but their relationship has broken down over their political rivalry, according to sources.
