A new poll found that 61% of Americans disagreed with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a ruling made exactly a year ago.
The NBC News poll found that 53% of this population stated that they strongly disapproved of the result of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case, which deemed that the Constitution does not establish the right to abortion.
In contrast, 36% of Americans said they approved of the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, with 27% they feel strongly about that belief. 9% said that they somewhat approved of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, and only 8% said that they disapproved.
Opinions about abortion rights generally aligned with partisan values; 92% of Democrats said that they disapproved of the Roe v. Wade ruling, and 65% of Republicans said that they approved. 60% of Independents said they disapproved of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, and 37% said they approved.

Results also varied amongst gender and race. Sixty-seven percent of women that participated in the poll said that they disapproved of the ruling in Roe v. Wade, with 77% of them between the ages of 18 and 49. Seventy-eight percent of black voters and 70% of Latino voters agreed.
