85% Of Americans Approve Of Biden’s Address To Congress

A vast majority of viewers who watched President Joe Biden‘s address to a joint session of Congress Wednesday night approved of his performance. The poll, taken by CBS News, polled 943 Americans just after watching the president’s address. 85% of those polled approved of Biden’s speech and 89% called the speech either “Presidential” or “Caring.”

The poll also specifies that among those surveyed, 54% identified as Democrats. And when asked how the president’s speech made them feel, 78% of those polled said the speech made them feel “optimistic about America.”

Biden’s address to Congress covered several major issues currently facing Americans. The president’s American Job and Families Plans got the major of time in his speech, touting efforts to revamp American infrastructure, public education, health care systems and child care opportunities. Among those polled, 85% are in favor of the American Jobs Plan while 15% of those polled dislike Biden’s plan.

Biden also spoke about the COVID-19 pandemic. The president’s speech resonated, once again, with a vast majority of voters – 83% of people who watched Biden’s address said that speech made them feel the COVID-19 pandemic was “getting better” while only 6% said the speech made them feel it was “getting worse.”
