A new poll from Suffolk University in Boston surveying 1,000 Trump voters found that more than 46% of them would join a Trump political party over the Republican party.
Among several questions asked of Trump voters, Suffolk University also found that more than 86% of Trump voters disapprove of Joe Biden‘s current work as president and that more than 73% do not believe Biden was elected legitimately.
Suffolk University’s findings highlight current trouble in the Republican party as well. Eight percent of those polls said they would be less likely to vote for a Republican senator who voted to convict Trump in the senate. Knowing Trump’s pull with red voters, several GOP officials still pledge loyalty to the former president, hoping it will earn them votes in future elections. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) surprised colleagues when he came out as a supporter of Donald Trump’s election fraud lies, but insiders later revealed that Hawley has 2024 presidential aspirations and is likely using media attention and the pull of Trump voters to make his way onto ballots.
