Trump calls LaVar Ball ungrateful, attacks son (Nov. 19, 2017)

After UCLA basketball star LiAngelo Ball and two of his teammates were caught shoplifting in China in November, President Trump — who happened to be visiting the country — stepped in to persuade leader Xi Jinping to let the three youngsters go.

Trump then called out LiAngelo’s outspoken father LaVar Ball — the founder and CEO of sports apparel giant Big Baller Brand — for not thanking him, and said he wished he had not intervened and left his son and the other players in jail.

LaVar and his sons star in a reality show on Facebook called “Ball in the Family.”
