The United States has now over 1,200 deaths from the coronavirus. There are at least 81,578 people infected nationwide with the disease, as of Thursday afternoon. That means the U.S. has more deaths and infections than any other country.
New York State has been, by far, battered the worst, with 387 deaths reported as of Thursday afternoon.
The Empire State has identified almost 38,000 cases. That figure is equivalent to around half of the country’s known cases – which has erupted to more than 81,000 nationwide.

New Jersey is a distant second in deaths and infections. The Garden State replaced Washington and California, in the number of cases, with 6,876, listed as of Thursday afternoon. That number is around one-eighth of the incidents reported in New York state.
New Jersey has had 81 deaths so far, but those numbers are expected to skyrocket.
California, where the number of cases doubles every three to four days, could soon overtake New Jersey.
Washington has around 2,700 cases and 134 casualties. Thirty-seven of these are in a single nursing home in the suburbs of Seattle.
Cases of the virus have been found in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and three U.S. territories.
“The experts expect that number to continue to increase,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo warned at a news briefing.
The surge of new cases is attributed to state and private labs aggressive testing for the virus after shortages of test-kits have been rectified.
