White House staffers will no longer be required to wear a face mask in the West Wing, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany announced on Wednesday.
The White House first mandated its staff to wear masks on May 11, after several members tested positive for the COVID-19. President Donald Trump’s personal valet was among those who tested positive for the coronavirus.
Trump has been voicing anti-mask sentiment, turning the mask-wearing into a political discussion.
“Wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens – I just don’t see it,” Trump said.
