Biden Administration officials are calling Fox News Host Tucker Carlson‘s January 6 coverage “false.” Carlson has painted the January 6 insurrection on the Capitol as an “orderly and meek” gathering of tourists.
The administration joined the chief of the Capitol Police, J. Thomas Manger, who called Carlson’s portrayal “offensive and misleading.”
“We agree with the chief of the Capitol Police and the wide range of bipartisan lawmakers who have condemned this false depiction of the unprecedented, violent attack on our Constitution and the rule of law — which cost police officers their lives,” White House Press Secretary Andrew Bates said. “We also agree with what Fox News’s own attorneys and executives have now repeatedly stressed in multiple courts of law: that Tucker Carlson is not credible.”
Bates was referencing text messages sent by Carlson that directly contradicted what he said on air. Carlson’s texts are a central part of Dominion Voting System’s $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News, alleging the network’s hosts willfully lied on-air for profit.
