Cassidy Hutchinson, who was a former top aide to ex-President Donald Trump‘s White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, unexpectedly testified during the January 6 public hearings on Tuesday.
Hutchinson detailed Trump’s anger with members of his cabinet for going against his claims of a “stolen” and “rigged” election. The former aide testified that the former President was so angry when then-Attorney General Bill Barr announced publically in December 2020 that there was no widespread voter fraud, Trump threw his plate of food at the wall.
“There was ketchup dripping down the wall and a shattered porcelain plate on the floor,” Hutchinson said.
Leading up to January 6, Hutchinson said there were more indications that something might happen during or after the “Stop the Steal” rally.

She testified that Meadows had told her four days before the Capitol attack, that “things might get real, real, bad.”
She also claimed that on the day of the Capitol attack, Trump made efforts to allow armed protestors to avoid security screenings. She recounted hearing him tell the Secret Service to allow people in with their weapons because he wanted his supporters at the Ellipse “to not feel excluded” and said that “they’re not here to hurt me.”
Hutchinson also added that the former president forcibly tried to take control of the steering wheel to head to the Capitol with the protestors following the rally, but was held back by Robert Engel, who was the head of Trump’s Secret Service detail.
“I am the fucking president. Take me up to the Capitol now,” the president said, according to Hutchinson who had heard it from top Trump security official Tony Ornato.
