Former White House counsel to former President Richard Nixon, John Dean, predicted that former President Donald Trump would be indicted soon after reports that Trump’s ex-lawyer Michael Cohen has met with the Manhattan district attorney’s office multiple times.
Dean served as a key witness in the 1973 Senate hearings during the Watergate scandal. He explained in his testimony that White House officials, including Nixon himself, obstructed justice to cover up the break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters. He was later convicted of obstruction of justice and served four months in prison.
“From personal experience, as a key witness, I assure you that you do not visit a prosecutor’s office 7 times if they are not planning to indict those about whom you have knowledge,” Dean wrote on Twitter. “It is only a matter of how many days until DA Vance indicts Donald & Co.”
Cohen met with the Manhattan DA’s office on Wednesday for the seventh time as part of the criminal investigation into Trump’s finances. An eighth meeting is expected to occur shortly.

Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. is also pursuing the wide-ranging investigation into Trump’s family business and finances. On Tuesday, the Manhattan DA’s office reported that the investigation would be intensifying, paying close attention to Trump’s Seven Springs estate in New York. Previous reports have indicated that Vance is looking to determine if the property’s value was inflated to obtain greater benefits from financial institutions.
Last month, the DA’s office obtained Trump’s tax return from his accounting firm, Mazars USA, after a legal dispute over access to the documents.
The investigation into Trump and his finances will continue.
