WATCH: Michael Cohen Tells Trump To ‘Resign’ So Pence Can Pardon Him

President Donald Trumps former personal attorney Michael Cohen compared Trump to a cult leader in an NBC interview scheduled to air on Tuesday night.

“I describe Mr. Trump as a cult leader, and I was in this cult,” Cohen told NBC host Lester Holt.

Trump’s former fixer had been discussing to his upcoming tell-all memoir, Disloyal, which discusses his experience working for Trump. The book is being released after Attorney General William Barr‘s unsuccessful court efforts to block its publication in August.

“While I was in the cult, I was really refusing to acknowledge that the actions I was performing for my boss were morally wrong,” Cohen said.

In 2018, Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison for tax evasion and campaign finance violations. The former Trump lawyer was released into house arrest due to the coronavirus pandemic. He was then rearrested after revealing that he was writing a tell-all book. Cohen filed a lawsuit arguing that his return to prison was an attempt to prevent him from releasing the book, with a judge ruling in his favor in late July.

Cohen also said that if he could, he would tell Trump to “resign now.”

“Let Mike Pence pardon you from any and all potential crimes that will come out against you, and that would be my recommendation to you,” he told NBC.

In Cohen’s book, he reportedly refers to the president as an “organized crime don.” The tell-all memoir claims that the campaign finance scheme for which Cohen was convicted could lead to charges for the president after leaving office.

“It never pays to settle these things, but many, many friends have advised me to pay… If it comes out, I’m not sure how it would play with my supporters. But I bet they’d think it’s cool that I slept with a porn star,” Trump said, according to Cohen.

In Cohen’s tell-all memoir, he also reports that Trump had allegedly made racist comments about former President Barack Obama and Nelson Mandela. The book claims that Trump called Cohen’s then-15-year old daughter “hot.”

A White House spokesman, Brian Morgenstern, dismissed the book as “fan fiction.” The spokesman also said that Cohen “readily admits to lying routinely but expects people to believe him now so that he can make money from book sales.”

“Michael Cohen is a disgraced felon and disbarred lawyer, who lied to Congress… He has lost all credibility, and it’s unsurprising to see his latest attempt to profit off of lies,” White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement.
