WASHINGTON, DC - AUGUST 26: White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany pre-records her address to the Republican National Convention from inside an empty Mellon Auditorium on August 26, 2020 in Washington, DC. The novel coronavirus pandemic has forced the Republican Party to move away from an in-person convention to a televised format, similar to the Democratic Party's convention a week earlier.
In an interview with Fox Business host Stuart Varney on Friday, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany dodged repeated questions regarding whether President Donald Trump would attend President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration in January. McEnany declared that Trump plans to “attend his own inauguration.”
Varney pushed back on the senior advisor, noting that it would “look pretty bad” if Trump did not attend Biden’s inauguration, to which McEnany replied that she thinks “the president will attend his own inauguration.”
“President Trump believes he will be President Trump, have a second term,” McEnany stated, adding that “litigation is the first step” with the inauguration being “many steps away.”
