Watch: Joe Biden Comforts Victims Of COVID-19 & Family Who Lost Members

On Wednesday, Former Vice President Joe Biden released a video in which he addressed the rising death toll in the US due to COVID-19.

Recently, the U.S. surpassed 100,000 deaths, a number that prompted worldwide criticism for the Trump Administration’s delayed response to the pandemic. The anti-Trump Republican-led “Lincoln Project” issued an ominous video in which it attacked the Trump for disregarding the huge numbers.

President Donald Trump suggested during a press briefing that U.S. numbers related to COVID-19 indicate widespread access to testing, calling the country’s public health situation “a badge of honor.”

Biden, instead, showed a much more somber demeanor in his newly released video.

“There are moments in our history so grim, so heart-rending that they’re forever fixed in each of our hearts as shared grief,” the video begins.

“Today is one of those moments,” Biden continued, as “a hundred thousand lives were lost to this virus here in the United States alone.”

The former Vice President, addressed the emotional distress of not being able to be there when families lost their relatives.

“This is a faithful milestone which should’ve never reached, which could’ve been avoided, according to a study done by Columbia University,” he said.

Quoting the study, Biden also pointed out that the administration’s mishandling was responsible for most of the losses.

“If the administration had acted just one week earlier to implement social distancing and do what it had to do, yes, one week sooner, as many as 36,000 lives might have been averted,” Biden said.

Afterwards, Biden turned again to those who had lost friends or family members, saying that he was “so sorry” for being unable “to dull the sharpness of the pain right now.”

“Take some solace from the fall we’re all grieving with you,” the video concluded.
